As I mentioned in my previous post with regards to my plans for the new year, I was after a dSLR camera. I also mentioned eyeing up the Canon 450D… so I went and bought the 500D =^.^=
It’s a beauty, I picked it up with the EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS kit lens, and I am probably looking at getting a nifty fifty at some point in the future. I’ve got lots of practising and experimenting to do, but luckily, my boy is a photographer guy who plays with cameras a lot. He has basically given me a crash course today, loads of pointers, and even let me have a play with his 50mm F/1.4 lens and speedlite. Thanks a bunch Rick, and thanks in advance for all further help you will be giving me!
One of the reasons I picked up the 500D over the 450D was because of it’s full HD video capability, which is pretty fucking fancy. I have had a bit of a play with this, and definitely need a bit more practise but hopefully I’ll get good enough to share some cool videos with you.

As for a favourite photo, I must say I like the SUSHI one. It almost looks delicious, which may well help out in my year of new things (see my blog for further details. Free advertising FTW).
